Compack®: the cardboard alternative to partitioned plastic trays designed for industry!
When the packaging industry needs to reinvent itself
For several years now, regulatory and societal pressure to reduce the use of plastic has been mounting. In the food industry, however, partitioned plastic trays are still widely used, particularly for biscuits and segmented food products.
Faced with this situation, the ETPACK teams decided to completely rethink this type of packaging.
This is how Compack®an innovative cardboard solution capable of replacing partitioned plastic trays while maintaining their industrial performance.
Innovation born in the field
The project Compack® is the result of discussions with manufacturers wishing to anticipate regulatory changes without compromising on productivity or product protection.
"Our customers were asking us for a genuine industrial cartonboard alternative, capable of operating at current production rates and compatible with existing lines," explains Gwenaël Olivier, Pre-Project Manager at ETPACK.
The objective was clear: to offer a solution functionally equivalent to plasticbut 100 % cardboardIt can be industrialised and adapted to the constraints of automated lines.
Compack: a partitioned carton solution using a flat die-cutting process
Compack® is based on a flat cardboard blank which, when expanded, forms a compartmentalised box with one or more integrated partitions.
It is used to package products:
flat or on edge
in one or more rows
with 1 or more integrated compartments
The solution is compatible with robotic loading systems, ensuring seamless integration into existing lines.
Tangible industrial and environmental benefits
Compack® has been designed to meet industrial performance expectations while reducing environmental impact.
- Reducing vacuum transport
The blanks are stored flat and then placed in volume directly at the manufacturer's premises, reducing the volume transported.
- Recyclable packaging
Compack® is made from cardboard, making it easy to recycle and integrate into existing recycling channels.
Rigidity and product protection
The partitioned structure ensures greater rigidity than a plastic tray and better product protection, limiting over-packaging.
- A higher quality finish
Cartonboard offers a premium appearance and improved shelf appeal.
"Compack® responds to a strong market demand to reduce plastic while maintaining industrial performance and perceived quality," stresses Judicaël Hubert, Sales Engineer at ETPACK.
A solution designed for the food industry and beyond
If Compack® was designed primarily for the biscuit industry and partitioned food products, but its concept can be adapted to other industrial sectors requiring integrated compartments.
Thanks to its modular design, the solution can evolve according to product needs, formats and line constraints.
With Compack®ETPACK is part of a sustainable industrial innovation approach, offering an industrialisable, high-performance alternative to plastic.
